His experience includes roles and industries that are tremendously varied and includes shop floor, first line, technical, operational and site management as well as business development (both sales and technical aspects). Over last 15 years he has led three different companies in fundamentally different industries, enabling him to develop highly adaptable and effective management skills.

Career highlights

  • Developing and selling new products across several industries. Two standout examples are launch of the world’s first Boeing accredited tufted aircraft carpet, which subsequently turned into one of feltex tufted carpets most profitable products, and the launch of NZ made surface protection film at epic packaging which also became a mainstay product for that company.
  • Service performance uplift at Colorpak. The company had been disappointing its clients with unacceptable difot and quality performance, and a visibly poor internal culture - several customers had recently voted with their feet. By focusing heavily on business process and internal disciplines the company was able to reverse this poor performance and by the time he left the business in 2016 customers were invariably placing Colorpak among their top suppliers
  • Redesign and restructuring at Vertex Hamilton. This was a very old, large and entrenched site, which was split into three separate, profit accountable business units. Garth successfully managed the operational, cultural and organizational changes that were required.
  • Profitability turnaround at Vertex Technical Injection. The company had been running losses but by focusing on market development and waste reduction the company was in the black within a year and running 30% EBITDA within three years.
  • With a Bachelor of Technology (First Class Honours) from Massey University and an MBA with Distinction, Garth combines sharp credentials with a practical, hands-on approach.
